Los nuevos aparcabicis inteligentes y gratuitos de Alcorcón ya están operativos

The new free smart bike parking system in Alcorcón, a project announced a few days ago during the Environmental Week and part of the Alcorcón Respira program, is now operational to promote «cleaner, connected, and safer mobility.»
This was announced on Wednesday by the Councilor for Mobility, Ecological Transition, Education, and Environment, Trinidad Castillo, who emphasized that this project «is part of a change in the way public space is understood in Alcorcón» and complements the commitment to expanding bike lanes.

These are enclosed modules, with individual access and controlled from a mobile phone, where the interior cannot be seen from the outside and they also have double internal fastening to secure the bike or scooter, making them «safer than a lock on the street,» and are monitored to prevent misuse.
They are located in strategic points, next to public transport nodes – metro and suburban stations such as Alcorcón Central, Puerta del Sur, Parque de Lisboa, Las Retamas, and San José de Valderas – to facilitate bike + public transport combination and promote urban intermodality.

Each module has a capacity for ten bikes and is divided into individual lockers, with no visibility between compartments, with doors that open electronically through the application and are equipped with anti-vandalism sensors, enhancing the security of the system.
The digital management platform BiciParking Alcorcón allows checking the availability of spaces in real time and managing reservations from the mobile phone.

«We wanted it to be free, easy to use, safe, and well-maintained. That’s why it is connected to a private network and operates with smart technology that allows us to know at all times if everything is working well,» added Castillo.
Furthermore, she explained that the system is «monitored 24 hours a day, every day of the year, and users have free assistance if needed,» the councilor concluded.
«From the Council, we are already working on other measures such as safer pedestrian crossings, connected bike lanes, and protected school routes. A clear and determined roadmap that focuses on sustainable mobility, safety, and the right to enjoy a more friendly city designed for living,» she concluded.
