Emergencia: Festival teatral en Alcorcón para nuevos creadores

Alcorcón will host from March 27 to 30 the Emergencia Festival, the first emerging theater festival in Alcorcón aimed at supporting creators and companies from the independent theater circuit.

The festival is organized by Cadáver Exquisito, an association based in Alcorcón with its own theater company, Entreparéntesis Teatro, in collaboration with the Department of Culture, Festivities, and Seniors, and in partnership with Revista Godot and the Association of Women Entrepreneurs in Alcorcón (AMEA).

The festival is also led by two women residing in Alcorcón: on one hand, actress and theater teacher Carmen Comendador, one of the founders of Entreparéntesis Teatro and a manager at Cadáver Exquisito; and on the other hand, journalist Berta Tapia, with 20 years of experience at RNE.

Out of 108 projects submitted to participate in this festival, the selection committee has chosen 8 proposals: four companies from Madrid, two from the Valencian Community, one from Andalusia, and one from Galicia.

The main performances will take place at the Centro Cívico Viñagrande, where the Festival will open on March 27 at 8:00 p.m. with ‘Todas las mujeres que habito’, a show by the company El Tesón, where Ángela Conde pays tribute to invisible women.

On Friday, March 28, the residents of Alcorcón will enjoy the performance by Merienda Dramática, with the play ‘Ninguna planta es de interior’, a comedy about three friends living in a village.

Closing the festival on Sunday, March 30, at Centro Cultural Viñagrande, La Ferviente Compañía will perform ‘El Banquete’, their debut show that showcases the group’s creative identity.

Additionally, at the Centro del Títere de Alcorcón, two puppet shows for adults will be featured, while the Cadáver Exquisito space, a multidisciplinary venue in the heart of Alcorcón, will host two more shows as part of the Emergencia Festival.
