Alcorcón rinde homenaje a ‘Hachiko’, el valiente perro que evitó un robo

‘Hachiko’, despite the name, is not just the Japanese Akita dog famous for his loyalty to his owner even after several years dead. ‘Hachiko’ is also the name of another dog, this time from Alcorcón.

If the story of the Akita is touching, the story of the Alcorcón Rottweiler is that of a brave animal, worthy of tribute. And that is what the Alcorcón City Council has done. They dedicated a street, or rather the ‘Callejón del perro Hachiko’ in the Torres Bellas neighborhood.

The Madrid ‘Hachiko’ prevented a robbery by intimidation by standing between the assailants and the victim, giving time to alert the Police.

The recognition is done posthumously. ‘Hachiko’ died a few years after that incident, and now a memorial plaque has been placed in his honor
